Coleman at Southampton Boat Show 2016
There was a feeling of positivity at the 48th Southampton Boat Show which took place from 16th – 25th September.
Poole based marine specialists, Coleman Marine Insurance enjoyed a very successful boat show, meeting their existing marine sector clients and new clients alike throughout the show. The 10-day event, which is a spectacular world class annual event attracting visitors, exhibitors and investors from all over the world, offers a complete shop window for the boating industry.
Coleman Marine Insurance – ‘a real sense of positivity'
Head of Marine and Private Clients at Coleman, Andrew Skinner, and his team, took time to connect with their many marine clients and contacts and reported a real sense of positivity amongst exhibitors.
They received a wealth of referrals and enquiries throughout the Show from existing and prospective clients alike.
Coleman Manager, Yacht & Commercial Craft, Tony Pauffley, advised “We have done fantastically well. We’ve received a steady number of yacht enquiries from boat dealers all around the show and, as ever, it’s really good to be part of the marine community at the Boat Show and meet up with clients and partners in the industry. Visitor numbers have been excellent, apart from one day when it poured with rain!”
Sunseeker – ‘the best we’ve had in a number of years’
The impressive Sunseeker stand was attracting visitors. Richard Tilley, Sunseeker Director for Spain commented, “The first weekend of the show was the best we’ve had in a number of years.
We’ve been taking orders and deposits have been coming in. At the Show we’ve launched the Manhatten 52, Predator 68 Mark 2 and the 95 Yacht. The Boat Show has been very good for Sunseeker.”
Salterns Marina – ‘existing customers upgrading’
Jane Haas from Salterns Marina advised, “We brought the Anytec 747 cabin version to the Southampton Boat Show for the first time. It’s a completely aluminium design, outboard engine, 300 horse power, bow rider, retailing at approximately £89.000.
We’ve also been showing the Sealegs 7.7 which we’ve had lots of interest in. We’ve had quite a few existing Sealegs customers looking to upgrade. It’s a great boat for waterside properties, islands and locks and can be used as a commuter boat.”
Golden Arrow Marine – ‘it was like turning the clock back 20 years!’
Golden Arrow Marine which is based at Salterns Marina in Poole, were incredibly positive about the boat show.
Commercial Manager James Sydenham commented, “The first 2 days was like someone had turned the clock back by 20 years!
Invictus Yachts UK – ‘stylish and innovative Italian designed boat’
Enjoying manning his busy stand was MD Charlo Briffa who reflected, “The Boat Show has been quite positive for us. We’ve received lots of positive feedback about the boats."
"Visitors assume that they are really expensive but are very pleasantly surprised when they see the prices. It’s a very stylish, innovative boat designed by Italian architect Christian Grande which offers excellent value for money.”
Dean & Reddyhoff – ‘in partnership with Coleman’
Dean & Reddyhoff, who have marinas in Portland and Weymouth, Haslar in Portsmouth Harbour and East Cowes on the Isle of Wight hosted a ‘pop- up’ Coleman Marine Insurance stand inside their busy display stand.
Group Marketing Manager, Rachel Hibberd, remarked, “We enjoy working closely with Coleman as they offer a special discount to our berth holders. We are confident to introduce them to our customers as we know from experience that they offer excellent service and special one-to-one attention. We are having an absolutely fantastic Boat Show!
We’re enjoying offering hospitality to visitors as it’s a great chance to chat and get to know our clients. We’ve even been giving cooking demos and gin tasting!”
Cobra Ribs - ‘lots of interest’
Josh Arkell of Christchurch based Cobra RIBS advised, “It’s been a really good Show for us. We have some new products – the Nautique range of RIBS and they are creating a lot of interest with new and existing clients.
Pool Quay Boat Haven – ‘busy promoting the forthcoming Poole Harbour Boat Show’
Marina Manager, John Binder from Poole Quay Boat Haven was busy promoting the forthcoming 2017 Poole Harbour Boat Show which takes place on 19th – 21st May. John enthused, “We’ve had lots of interest from previous exhibitors to the show. The Poole Harbour Boat Show’s reputation is growing fast and we’ve very quickly established ourselves as a major event.”
Dawsons Bang & Olufsen – ‘excellent choice of pitch!’
Bournemouth based Dawsons Bang & Olufsen were pleased with their choice of pitch at the Show. MD Kevin Dawson advised, “We’ve moved to Mayflower Park on the Boat Show Site this year. The difference has been phenomenal! Sales have been excellent and we’ve just received confirmation from Sunseeker to install a Bang & Olufsen systems on a Sunseeker 131 and have quoted on a Sunseeker 116. It all feels a lot more positive and deals are being done. This comes off the back of a fantastic summer of sales in the residential market. Business feels good.”
PowerBoat P1 – ‘a dual purpose boat’
MD Simon Wood Power said “It’s all been very positive. We’ve booked 14 demonstration runs in our new boat, which we launched here last Friday.
It’s a 7.5 metre RIB with an ‘Evinrude’ 200 horsepower outboard. It’s a dual purpose boat that families can use at the weekend or you can race in a 1 Make Championship with 5 race weekends taking place around the UK in 2017.”
